Before you can rent in England, you need to prove your right to rent. How you prove your right to rent depends on your nationality and your immigration status. If you're a British or Irish citizen, you can prove your right to rent in England by uploading a British or Irish passport to your application. If you're not a British or Irish citizen, you can prove your right to rent in England with:
- a right to rent share code - you can apply for a share code online
- your original immigration documents
The right to rent share code is used to check if you can rent in England and how long for.
If you don't have a share code or any acceptable immigration documents, you may be able to use other documents to prove your right to rent.
